During this year’s FSK general meeting on 13.11.2019 in Reutlingen, Rudolf Rampf, founder of the Rampf Group and long-standing FSK member, was honoured for his life’s work with the medal of honour and the certificate of honour of the FSK e.V.

Rudolf Rampf, chemical engineer and certified technical business economist, founded RAMPF Kunststoffsysteme GmbH in 1980. He is regarded as the inventor of the polyurethane model building board, which fundamentally modernized model and tool making at the beginning of the 1980s. In the following years the plastic model building boards almost completely replaced the moulded wood in model and mould making. A first step towards the expansion of the company was the integration of EPUCRET GmbH in 1996, the world’s largest manufacturer of machine beds and frame components made of mineral casting, which today represents the RAMPF Machine Systems division. With the foundation of RAMPF Tooling (today RAMPF Tooling Solutions), the world’s largest producer of modeling boards, RAMPF Dosiertechnik (today RAMPF Production Systems), developer and manufacturer of dispensing systems and automation solutions, RAMPF Ecosystems (today RAMPF Eco Solutions), developer and manufacturer of recycling polyols and recycling systems, in 2003 the RAMPF Group continued to grow remarkably. Also in 2003 Rudolf Rampf set the first milestone for the internationalization of the company by founding the North American RAMPF subsidiary in Wixom, Michigan. In 2005 the Chinese RAMPF branch in Taicang was founded and in 2007 the Japanese RAMPF branch in Osaka. Over all these years, the factory in Grafenberg has remained the headquarters of the company, where an innovation center was opened in 2009 which is used for research in the laboratory and application technology. Two years later, in 2011, Rudolf Rampf retired from the operative management and handed it over to his two sons Michael and Matthias Rampf. The Canadian company APEX Composites was acquired to expand lightweight construction expertise with composites for companies in the aviation and medical industries. This resulted in the new core competence RAMPF Composite Solutions in 2016. The acquisition of the US company Innovative Polymers expanded the product portfolio of polyurethane systems for applications in the field of tool and model making in 2018.
Until today the Rampf Group stands for growth, progress and innovative strength. Through its creative power, Rampf set remarkable milestones in the plastics industry. In addition to his outstanding professional achievements, the FSK e.V. also honours the social commitment of Rudolf Rampf.
Rampf took on numerous honorary activities in the community of Grafenberg. In 2001 he founded the Rudolf Rampf Foundation, which serves to support young people in Grafenberg. In particular the musical education of young people in music clubs and youth sports in sports clubs is in the focus of this foundation. In 2008 Rampf was awarded the economic medal of the state of Baden-Württemberg and in 2019, after 30 years of involvement in the Grafenberg municipal council, he received the honorary pin of the Baden-Württemberg Municipal Council. In 2017, he received the Federal Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in recognition of his many years of service to the common good and his outstanding voluntary commitment.

The FSK would like to thank him for his many years of successful cooperation.
