6th International specialist conference foam plastics in Düsseldorf

Dr. agr. Theo Becker was born on 30.01. 1927 in Haßloch/Pfalz. After passing the school-leaving examination at the secondary school in Speyer, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht. As a severely war-disabled man, he began studying at the Agricultural University of Weihenstephan after returning from Russian captivity, graduating in 1950 with a degree in agriculture. From 1951 on, he was in charge of the teaching and experimental farm of Hoechst AG in Deidesheim, including consulting in viticulture. From 1950 to 1953, Becker was also a subject teacher at the Agricultural Teaching and Research Institute in Neustadt. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for his services as a long-standing employee of the German Winegrowers’ Association, the Chamber of Agriculture and the Board of Trustees for Technology in Agriculture. He is a Master of the Palatinate Wine Brotherhood.

The pioneering achievement of the award-winner is that he was a pioneer in the application of foam plastics in agriculture. Through field trials in viticulture he contributed to the determination of exact technical data for plastoponics.
