The melamine resin
Melamine resin foam - also known under the brand name Basotect® or ClimaTect® - is a flexible, open-cell foam made of melamine resin, a thermosetting plastic from the aminoplastic group.
The melamine resin is foamed into blocks and further processed for application.
Melamine resin foam is a universal performer. Thanks to its high acoustic absorption capacity and safe fire behaviour, it is used for noise insulation in buildings (acoustic panels, partitions) as well as for heat and noise insulation in automotive (bonnet) and aircraft construction (seat upholstery). With its good cold stability, this special foam is also suitable for insulating frozen liquid gas on tankships.
