Hans Hoffmann (formerly Hanno Werke) was awarded with the FSK Gold Medal of Honour by the Association Foamed Plastics and Polyurethanes. With this special award, the association thanks its long-standing board member for his outstanding commitment and active involvement in the foam plastics industry.
Hans Hoffmann first came into contact with the FSK at the end of the 1980s. The company HANNO Werke Laatzen, in which he was the managing director with sole power of representation for 30 years, joined the former VSV as a member at that time. Hans Hoffmann shaped the company HANNO as a longtime managing director since 1985 and increased the turnover fourfold during his active time. Under his leadership, successful returns were continuously generated as well as precautionary and sustainable implementations in all questions of company management and development. In 2016, after more than 30 years, Hoffmann handed over the management of HANNO to new hands and is now entering his well-earned retirement.
Hoffmann, who was born in Rhineland-Palatinate in 1950, worked in London and the USA, among other places. Before joining HANNO, Hoffmann was employed as Senior Vice President at Abresist Corporation in Indiana /USA, where he successfully built up a production and sales organization for 8 years. After an apprenticeship as a commercial clerk, part-time business studies and export experience, also as deputy export manager, in a company specializing in ceramic wear protection for heavy industry, Hans Hoffmann was sent to America at the age of only 27 as a technical consultant, where he advanced to Vice President within 6 months. His application-technical product and industry knowledge in power plants, cement industry, mining, metallurgical plants and many other industrial sectors was the basis for his sales success in the USA and Canada.
The change of industry to HANNO and the synthetic flexible foams was a new challenge for the then 35 year old Hoffmann. His labor-intensive work was successful, and he was also involved in association activities for many years. After 10 years of association membership of HANNO in the VSV, the association was integrated into the FSK. In the new FSK expert committee “Arbeitskreis Melaminharzschaum” he took over the function of the speaker after active participation and supported the work to give this material a high degree of awareness in the market. Furthermore, he was actively involved in many topics concerning the foam business. In 2012 Hans Hoffmann was elected to the board of the FSK. There he was active until the end of 2016 and supported the FSK with his high competence and valuable knowledge in the field of foam plastics.
