K 2022 offered many innovations on the topics of plastics machinery construction, plastics production and plastics processing on an international stage. The focus was on three megatrends: climate protection, circular economy and digitalisation. The Foamed Plastics and Polyurethanes Association (FSK), together with its partners, draws a positive balance and looks optimistically to the future.

Stuttgart, 03 November 2022 – The K trade fair takes place every three years. This year was another anniversary: the leading international trade fair for plastics and rubber took place in Düsseldorf from 19 to 26 October and celebrated its 70th birthday. As the industry highlight of the year, the fair opened its doors to plastics industry experts from all over the world. Around 180,000 trade visitors from all continents travelled to Düsseldorf for the industry event. The proportion of international guests at K 2022 was consistently high at over 70 percent. The trade visitors to this year’s K came to the Rhine from 157 nations. In addition to Germany, the nations strongly represented on the visitor side from Europe were the Netherlands, Italy, Turkey, France, Belgium, Poland and Spain.
“As the industry’s trade association, it is a matter of course for the FSK to be present at the world’s leading trade fair for the plastics industry,” says Klaus Junginger, FSK Managing Director. This year, the Fachverband Schaumkunststoffe und Polyurethane e.V. (Foamed Plastics and Polyurethanes Association) was once again together with its members on a 250 square metre stand in Hall 7a, B26 and C25. Also present were Acmos Chemie KG, Azelis Deutschland GmbH, FreChem GmbH & Co. KG, Keil Anlagenbau GmbH & Co. KG, KMA Umwelttechnik GmbH, Nitroil® Performance Chemicals H. GmbH, Rühl Puromer GmbH, Sekisui Alveo AG, MEPAK Ltd. and FSK Services GmbH. Under the united umbrella of the trade association, they jointly provided answers to questions on polyurethane systems and PU processing, PUR plant and cutting technologies, PUR casting applications as well as training concepts for the mandatory diisocyanates training courses.
“You can see that many companies in the industry are now moving decisively in the direction of more sustainability. The FSK member companies also have their focus on sustainability, circular economy and energy/resource efficiency in production. We have had some very interesting discussions these days about the approaches, some of which are very innovative and outstanding,” explains Klaus Junginger. “In addition, the topic of diisocyanate training was a much-discussed topic at the fair. Industrial and commercial users of diisocyanates are still obliged to carry out training until 24 August 2023 and to comply with the European REACh restriction. FSK Services GmbH is the only company in the DACH region to offer train-the-trainer courses, classroom training and e-learning with an all-round service package,” adds the association’s managing director.

The next K in Düsseldorf will take place from 08 to 15 October 2025.
