FSK medal of honour for founding member and 1st chairman of the association
The Gold Medal of Honour of the Fachverband Schaumkunststoffe FSK e.V. was presented by Albrecht Manderscheid, Chairman of the FSK, to Professor Heinz H. Baumann, co-founder of the association and 1st Chairman in the history of the association, on the occasion of his 85th birthday. This was the first time in over 10 years that the FSK Medal of Honour in Gold was awarded. “We are indebted to you for the work you have done in the interest of the common good of the association” Albrecht Manderscheid praised Professor Heinz Baumann. Even today, traditions, which Professor Heinz Baumann brought into being at the time, are still alive in the FSK. For example, the polyurethane conferences still exist today, twelve of which were initiated and co-organized by FSK Chairman Baumann in the 1960s and 1970s. Baumann had also initiated two polyurethane world congresses in Strasbourg and in Aachen together with the American association. For fourteen years, Baumann headed the FSK, which was founded in 1962, and represented the association in numerous other organizations, in particular the Federation of German Industries (BDI), where he served on the Committee for Research and Science Policy for around thirteen years. For his many-sided, voluntary commitment, Professor Baumann was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon and First Class for Research and Science years ago. Heinz Baumann took the occasion of the FSK’s honour to hand over to the FSK his historical writings and documents of the association from his private holdings, including old conference proceedings and studies. According to Baumann, it is important to him that the over 40-year history of the FSK lives on; the complete archive should contribute to this.
