Henry Stern, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1924, emigrated to Paris in 1934. After working in the USA, he returned to France and founded Henry Stern et Cie. for the processing of PVC in 1947. In 1954, he started processing foamed polystyrene for the construction and industrial sectors, which was followed in 1961 by the manufacture of machines for these industries. In 1975 the production of glass wool was started. Stern founded ten factories for processing foamed polystyrene, six factories for the production of complex insulating materials, two factories for glass wool and one machine factory. His extensive activities are characterised by numerous patents, process developments and brand products. In 1972, he was elected President of the Syndicat National des Plastiques Alveolains (national association for foam plastics).
